In 1989, on the initiative and leadership of Professor A.M. Shamsiev, a specialized children's surgical clinic of Samarkand State Medical University was founded.
In the first years, the following specialized departments with 200 beds were established in the clinic: Breast surgery department - 30 beds; Children's urology department - 40 places; Urgent and purulent surgery department - 40 places; Planned surgery department - 30 places; Department of Cardiosurgery - 15 places; Pediatric surgery department - 30 places; Anesthesiology and resuscitation department - 6 places; Department of ambulatory surgery - 10 places; Maternal health department-15 places.

In addition, the association has the following additional departments - Department of functional diagnostics; ultrasound examination; x-ray diagnostic department; clinical-diagnostic laboratory department; Physiotherapy, igloo therapy rooms help patients in the post-surgery process. It should be noted that the departments of thoracic surgery, cardiosurgery, pediatric surgery, and urology are the only ones in the region.
Since 2013, doctor of medical sciences, Professor Shamsiyev Jamshid Azamatovich has been appointed as the chief physician of the clinic.

Currently, the specialized children's surgical clinic of the Samarkand State Medical University is a highly qualified, multidisciplinary scientific and research clinical institution that provides round-the-clock care to children of Samarkand, Jizzakh, Navoi, Bukhara, Kashkadarya and Surkhandarya, Khorezm regions. At the same time, this institution is a leading methodological center in a number of important areas of pediatric surgery. Every year, the clinic receives about 21,000 patients, more than 10,000 of them are hospitalized, more than 8,000 complex plastic and reconstructive operations are performed on the heart, lungs, liver, intestines, urinary system, and musculoskeletal system. For the first time in the practice of children's surgery in the Samarkand region, this center introduced surgery for congenital heart defects, bronchoscopy, bronchography, plasmapheresis method, splenosorption, ozone therapy and other practices.
Process of high-tech surgical practice
Seminars and scientific-practical conferences dedicated to the actual problems of children's surgery are organized annually by the staff of the clinic in the districts of Samarkand region, as well as in the regions of the southwestern region of our country. In addition, in order to provide methodological support to pediatric surgeons, all districts of the Samarkand region are attached to the experienced staff of the clinic. According to the approved schedule, the staff of the center inspects children's polyclinics, orphanages, boarding schools, preschools, schools in the city for the purpose of identifying and treating surgical pathology every month.
Inspection of neighboring regions and districts
The clinic has close scientific ties with prestigious foreign medical centers. Specialists of the clinic actively participate in foreign scientific symposia and improve their skills. For the first time in Central Asia, the staff of the clinic became a member of the Association of Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia (ELSA) in 2016. In particular, in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023, the clinic's specialists attended the Neonatal Surgery Center of Astana (Kazakhstan), the Children's Surgery Center of Stavropol Medical University (Russia), Severance Clinics of Yonsei University, Samsung Clinic (South Korea), They have improved their skills in London (England), Dubai (UAE) and Singapore's National University Hospital. In turn, specialists from Russia, Kazakhstan and South Korea visited our clinic and held "master classes" on performing endosurgical operations.
South Korea's Samsung Clinic and Kyungpook National University Hospital (KNUH), Singapore's National University Hospital, Tajikistan-Uzbekistan Friendship Medical Center, Kazakhstan's "Children's Emergency Medical Center" and similar prestigious clinics of Samarkand State Medical University specialize in pediatric surgery. The clinic has signed memorandums of cooperation.

Professor J.A. Shamsiyev was appointed as a representative of the central council of ELSA, which is the representative of the organization in the countries of Central Asia. Therefore, in connection with 2018 and 2019, "Laparoscopic surgery update" training for trained specialists of SamDTU specialized children's surgical clinic of Samarkand city and other medical institutions with the participation of specialists from the countries of the Asian region (Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Pakistan and Japan) took place. The representative of ELSA in Asian countries is professor J.A. On April 27-29, 2023, on the initiative and efforts of Shamsiyev, the first spring congress of the Society of Asian Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgery (ELSA) was held in Samarkand on the topic "Minimally invasive surgery on the Silk Road".
Total of 550 delegates, consisting of specialists in pediatric surgery from more than 77 countries of the world took part in the congress.
As part of this congress, on April 27, 2023, a workshop (master class) was held at the specialized children's surgical clinic of Samarkand State Medical University. In it, modern minimally invasive surgery operations were demonstrated to doctors by international experts. Among them, Davide Lomanto, general secretary of the ELSA organization, performed three laparoscopic surgeries.
All the conducted "skill lessons" were shown to all participants directly from the operation blog.
Fourty presentations were heard at the events which held at the Silk-Road Samarkand tourist center, on April 28-29, 2023.
Simulation center
A remote center telemedicine was opened at the clinic in cooperation with South Korea's Kyungpook National University Hospital (KNUH). The remote telemedicine center was established in order to exchange experience on modern innovative surgical treatment methods on current issues of children's surgery, to conduct remote consultations on the restoration of patients' health.

In the specialized children's surgical clinic of the Samarkand State Medical University, children from the neonatal period to 18 years of age, as well as adults, carry out diagnosis and treatment of various surgical diseases and defects, including the use of modern endosurgical devices in the lungs, heart, complex plastic and reconstructive operations are performed on the liver, urinary system, digestive system, musculoskeletal system.
One of the important directions of the clinic's activity is establishing international relations. Based on the memoranda signed by the university and the clinic with the medical institutions of a number of foreign countries, in order to increase the competitiveness of the provided medical services, increase revenues, increase the flow of tourists in medical tourism, and increase the volume of export of medical services, within the clinic, by the order of the chief physician dated March 5, 2021 No. 51"International cooperation and development of medical tourism" department was established, certificate No. UzRTTa-18 of the Association of Medical Tourism of the Republic of Uzbekistan and five-star certificate No. T-0023 were received in July 2021.
In order to improve the quality of medical and surgical care provided to the children's population in the clinic, and to reduce the possible mistakes, from 2021, internationally recognized quality standards ISO 9001:2015 "Requirements. Management quality system" was introduced.
On November 4, 2023, more than 300 patients were admitted to the specialized children's surgical clinic of Samarkand State Medical University, based on the Memorandum of Cooperation concluded with the Kyungbuk National University Clinic of South Korea, by a group of volunteers consisting of representatives of South Korean colleagues. During admission, rehabilitator-60, rheumatologist-63, neurosurgeon-30, stomatologist-34, UTT specialists (obstetrician, mammologist, etc.) 96, emergency doctor-60 examined patients of various ages. A course of treatment was recommended for patients who are in need of medical treatment at the clinic itself. In total, more than 300 patients of different ages were examined.
